The winter holidays promote goodwill giving through both our generous, festive spirit and our guilt-ridden need to even the scale between selfish buying and selfless buying. Thus, adults have their own guilty-conscious version of the elf-on-the-shelf. They feel like someone is watching them to see how gluttonous and self-serving they seem to be.

Teens, in general, seem to diverge from holiday celebrations. Maybe it’s the non-conformity aspect of growing up. Still, giving can be fun with the right attitude.span>
